Our Story

Mission First Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was founded by a former Navy SEAL. The school draws its inspiration from a SEAL Team motto “Mission First...People Always.”  Navy SEALs are taught to put the operation first and leave no one behind on the battlefield.

The school’s mission is to better the adults and children of Aquidneck Island through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Mission First BJJ understands that each individual faces a different set of challenges, but as a team, we will help each other and endure together.  The school believes if “I make you better, then you will make me better,” which enables the Mission First Team to excel.  This philosophy will challenge the individual mind and body while making the group stronger.

“If I make you better…you will make me better.”

Through our crawl, walk, run teaching curriculum, our instructor staff instills that the path to a Black Belt is a marathon, not a sprint. Mission First BJJ welcomes any student who is ready to commit to these values and make a positive life-altering change through the study of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
